Alerted about the infiltration of Lashkar-e-Tayyaba (LeT) operatives through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, a special cell of the Delhi police has launched a manhunt for two suspected terrorists for allegedly hatching a conspiracy to carry out “fidayeen and grenade attacks” in the national capital targeting “high-profile personalities”. This comes five months after the same special cell team had filed an FIR against unknown persons suspected to be belonging to the Islamic State (ISIS) planning to carry out terror attacks in India.
A highly-placed source said that even though the Delhi police mentioned two men in the FIR, the number of terrorists who have infiltrated could be much higher, which has also been pointed out by the Central agencies to the police of several states.
According to the FIR lodged on December 1, the special cell of the Delhi police received secret information about two suspected LeT operatives, identified as Dujana and Ukasha, who allegedly entered Jammu and Kashmir through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir to carry out terror attacks in Delhi and other parts of the country.
The FIR was filed under Section 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC and relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. It was submitted at the concerned anti-terror court.
Later in the day, a Special Cell officer said that Dujana and Ukasha are suspected to be Abu Dujana, considered second-in-command of LeT, and one of his main aides Abu Ukasha.
Intelligence inputs also suggest that both their names had emerged during the interrogation of two LeT overground workers arrested on November 3 and 24 from Pulwama district and Bhatindi in Jammu respectively.
