After a complaint from a Gurgaon-based person that his father is being held against his wishes in Kuwait since May 2008 due to a court order barring him from leaving, external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj on Sunday said she is asking “the Indian ambassador in Kuwait to take this up at the highest level with the Government of Kuwait”. The Indian government could examine its legal options to help the Indian national stuck there and is also expected to request the Kuwait government to intervene to ensure the release of the man.

The Gurgaon-based journalist had appealed to Ms Swaraj for help to free his father following which the minister took prompt action.
