Patna station tops in Wi-Fi use, but for watching porn
A recent survey shows that the Patna railway station tops the list of users in terms of searches on the Internet using free Wi-Fi services. The report also claims that most of the websites, which were visited through search engines, were porn sites.
The Patna railway station was among 23 other railway stations where free Wi-Fi services were installed in the first phase. According to authorities, “free Wi-Fi was installed at the railway stations across the country keeping in mind the office goers and students who travel through train frequently”.
They, however, refused to comment when asked about the survey that showed travellers using free Wi-Fi at the Patna railway station to view porn sites. Sources claimed that the survey was carried out by RailTel to find out about the usage of free Wi-Fi service at railway stations.
They said the RailTel is planning to boost the service by increasing from 1GB to 10 GB to give high-speed Internet, and that the survey was done to find out the number of users.
The free Wi-Fi services were installed at the Patna railway station a month ago along with three other railway stations, including Vishakhapatnam and Ranchi. The service was commissioned by RailTel with Google to provide Internet services at the 23 railway stations of the country. The survey also shows that after Patna, Jaipur is the second.
