Be patient for 50 days: Rajnath Singh on cash chaos

Mr Singh said that the demonetisation decision will bridge the gap between the rich and the poor.

Lucknow: Union home minister Rajnath Singh has appealed to the people to show patience for the 50-day period in larger national interest.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function here on Friday, Mr Singh said that those criticising the demonetisation decision should know that it was taken in national interest and people must cooperate by remaining patient for the next few days.

He said that the demonetisation decision will bridge the gap between the rich and the poor and will choke funding for terrorists and Maoists.

Mr Singh, who was in his constituency to lay the foundation of several welfare projects, said that there should be no politics over development.

Dedicating the projects to former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, who was earlier MP from Lucknow, Mr Singh said that development was for the general welfare of the common man and all political parties should join hands on the issue.

Railway minister Suresh Prabhu, who accompanied Mr Singh, also announced a slew of new railway projects for Uttar Pradesh, mainly the state capital of Lucknow where the Alamnagar railway station has been declared to be developed as a satellite station, the new entrances at city and Aishbagh railway stations beside modern facilities like escalator at existing main station of Charbagh.
