Mayawati's attack on Digvijay Singh creates ripples in Congress
Bhopal: BSP supremo Mayawati’s blistering attack on AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh squarely holding him responsible for the botched alliance talks between her party and Congress in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh has left the grand-old party here stunned.
Congress leaders here, who have appeared least expected of such a development, have refused to give any comment on it preferring to steer clear of the controversy. “I am not aware of what Ms Mayawati said”, party spokesman here Bhupendra Gupta said.
Ms Mayawati has accused Mr Singh of being major bottleneck in having poll understanding between BSP and Congress in MP for his “self-interest”.
Her statement however appeared to have divided Congress here with Mr Singh’s followers alleging role of his adversaries in the party in the development. “Everyone in Congress knows who are behind the whole development. His detractors in the party had earlier tried to marginalise him in the party, she said.
