Arrogant 'didi' refused to talk to me on cyclone Fani: PM in West Bengal
Tamluk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing a rally in West Bengal on Monday said the state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee did not speak to him when called her up to talk about cyclone Fani.
"Speedbreaker didi has tried to play politics even on cyclone Fani. I tried to get in touch with Mamata didi but her arrogance is such that she refused to talk to me, I tried again but she did not get in touch," Modi attacked the TMC supremo in a rally here.
PM Modi also said Mamata Banerjee is so frustrated these days that she doesn't even want to talk or hear about God. "The situation is such that didi is arresting and jailing those who are chanting 'Jai Sri Ram'," added Modi.
Giving a reply to Banerjee's critics, PM Modi said the entire nation was happy about Masood Azhar being designated as a global terrorist but didi never hailed the BJP-led government's development.
On Sunday the sources revealed that two attempts were made by the PM's staff to connect the Prime Minister to Banerjee on the telephone that had caught a lot of controversy.
Reacting to reports in a section of media that TMC has expressed its displeasure over Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaking only to West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi to inquire about the cyclone aftermath, the PMO sources said that the claim is incorrect.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted an aerial survey to assess the loss and destruction caused by Cyclone Fani in Odisha.
PM Modi had announced that the Centre has released Rs 1,000 crore to Odisha and other states to deal with the devastation caused by Fani.
