BJP starts campaign in Bihar to woo voters
Patna: The BJP in Bihar has launched a door to door campaign to highlight the achievements of the Modi-led NDA government in the past four years.
Party workers, including senior BJP leaders, have been meeting people and distributing leaflets to create awareness about public welfare initiatives taken by the NDA government in last four years.
The process which started on May 27 will continue till June 11. According to party insiders, the campaign has been launched in order to revitalize the party even in those areas which are now considered as a stronghold of the RJD.
According to several BJP leaders, the party is also planning to set up committees at the Panchayat level to woo voters. Party insiders said that the strategy would be to win over a maximum number of rural voters who are presently under the hold of either the RJD or the Congress party.
According to political analysts here, the worst fear within the NDA camp is the growing popularity of the RJD in the state. BJP sources claim that “the relation building exercise will help in strengthening party’s base in the state”.
Observers say that Bihar is important for BJP because the NDA had won 31 out of 40 seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. According to BJP state president Nityanand Rai, “The party is confident to win at least 38 out of 40 seats in Bihar even this time.”
He also dismissed speculations that the united Opposition will pose any threat to the NDA in 2019.
