Lucknow: UP CM Yogi Adityanath picked up a broom and swept a road in a Lucknow slum on Saturday, in his push for a cleaner state.

The CM was joined by his urban development minister Suresh Khanna. They were accompanied by 50 municipal workers.

A recent survey by the Central government found UP’s Gonda was India’s dirtiest city. Other cities and towns of the state also fared badly in terms of cleanliness.

The CM interacted with local people and the police and directed officials to ensure the ban on plastic waste and polythene was enforced. The CM also inspected a public toilet in the area. He said that the BJP would take up the Clean India movement as a mission and ensure a higher ranking for UP in the next survey.
