Congress MLA upset over talks of marriage to Rahul Gandhi
Lucknow: Congress MLA from Rae Bareli Aditi Singh has strongly refuted rumours of her “marriage” to Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
Rumours of Aditi’s “marriage” with Mr Gandhi started circulating on a WhatsApp group in Rae Bareli and were soon picked up by a section FO the media.
Photographs of Aditi and Mr Gandhi, taken during the UP Assembly campaign, were used to give credence to the reports of the ‘marriage’ that was supposedly to be solemnised later this month. A picture that shows Aditi Singh dressed in a green sari standing with a couple of people along with Mrs Sonia Gandhi, was shared the most. However, the fact is that the people seen in the photo are not from the families of either Gandhi or Singh.
“Such rumours have upset me no end. I would like to clarify that Rahul ji is like my elder brother and these rumours are designed to malign his image as well as mine. I am really saddened by such rumours on social media”, she told reporters.
Aditi, the 29-year-old daughter of former Congress MLA Akhilesh Singh, won her first election with a margin of more than 90,000 votes in 2017 assembly elections.
She holds a Masters in Management Studies from Duke University, USA. She is believed to be close to Ms Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
