Patna: The crisis within the state Congress deepened after a rebel faction created ruckus during the meeting called by newly appointed working president Kaukab Quadri on Monday.

According to a Congress party leader, “Situation went out of hand when party workers charged Mr Quadri of foul play by not inviting several district-level leaders for the meeting”.

Another Congress leader said that “both the groups even resorted to fist fight inside the meeting hall”.

Ashok Chaudhary, the former PCC chief who was also present during the meeting, said that the BJP is set to gain in Bihar if Congress workers who dedicated their life for the party were not acknowledged.

The party has been facing internal conflict ever since Congress high command sacked Ashok Chaudhary from the post of PCC chief.

Sources said that “the party high command’s decision to sack Ashok Chaudhary has created a sharp division within the Bihar unit and it may go out of hand if Congress high command ignored the issue.”

Party insiders claimed that the ruckus was engineered by a group led by  Ashok Chaudhary. But according to supporters of Mr Chaudhary, the new president had called several RJD workers who resorted to violence.
