'Kill, slit my throat, send to jail, yet I will speak against you': Mamata to Modi
Kolkata: Launching a ferocius attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Saturday claimed that his "death knell" has started tolling.
Daring Modi to harm her, she even declared that he would not be able to do anything beyond murdering her or sending her behind bars. The "death knell" remark by the West Bengal chief minister is bound cause a controversy at a time when the Lok Sabha Elections are underway.
Addressing a poll campaign rally at Murarisha in Hasnabad of North 24 Parganas in support of actor turned Trinamool candidate Nusrat Jahan, Ms Banerjee told the crowd, "When the people of the country failed to speak up in fear, it was only Mamata Banejree who spoke up. Modi Babu, I challenge you always. What (harm) can you do to me? Maximum you can kill me or slit my throat or send me to jail. But you can not do anything beyond that."
The Trinamool chief alleged, "The press would not utter a single word against Modi Babu because he threatens them. Even a single leader can not speak against him in fear. Remember it is only me who speaks against him. Someone has to bell the cat. We had set that bell from Bengal. That is why a farewell bell is ringing for him in the entire country. Modi Babu's death knell is tolling (read: Modibabur Mrityu Ghanta Bajchhe). We had set that from the Brigade Parade Ground."
She added, "We had declared that the BJP would be finished in 2019. This is 1426 (Bengali Year) and it will be 42 out of 42 in Bengal. That is why Modibabu has been scared. So are the Signboard Babus. They are carrying Jhanda in one hand and Danda in another with boxes of money."
