New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received flak for his comment on Balakot Airstrike when he suggested the Indian Air Force (IAF) to go ahead with the operation even though the IAF officials had shared their reservations about the weather condition.
The Prime Minister was speaking to News Nation narrating the deliberations that underwent before the airstrike which were undertaken in the wake of Pulwama attack.
“On the night of airstrike, the weather was not conducive. The experts suggested to change the date of operation. I was skeptical about the secrecy of the operation. I am not an expert who knows these (technological) intricacies but I suggested that the overcast weather and rains may help us to avoid (Pakistan Air Force’s) radars. After much thoughts, I directed them to go ahead with the operation,” Modi said.
The oppostion was quick to react. Many opposition leaders took to Twitter to attack the PM. While, the Congress took a poetic jibe, one of its leaders Salman Soz questioned the PM’s advisors.

Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah made a sarcastic remark stating that “Pakistan’s radar doesn’t penetrate clouds.”

Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Sitaram Yechuri called Modi’s comment “anti-national” and “shameful”.
