Bhopal: BJP national president Amit Shah on Monday justified his attack on Congress saying, “It is not my responsibility to save Congress”.

Winding up his two-day tour at Ambikapur in Chhattisgarh, Mr Shah told reporters that his party wanted a strong opposition in the interest of democracy.

“Democracy cannot survive without Opposition party. But, It is not my, but Rahul Gandhi’s responsibility, to save Congress”, Mr Shah said.

Mr Shah maintained that his verbal attacks on Mr Gandhi were not personal but political one. “As president of Congress, it is Rahul Gandhi’s responsibility to give accounts of the 55-year-rule of his party in the country. It is also my responsibility to detail performances of the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre”, he said.

The BJP president also lauded Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh for ensuring rapid progress in his state adding that the state has made impressive developments in agriculture, infrastructure and digital sectors in the past 15 years of BJP’s rule.
