Patna: Former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi on Friday created a flutter in the political circle by claiming that poll strategist Prashant Kishor had met Lalu Yadav with an offer to merge RJD and JD(U) and declare Nitish Kumar a prime ministerial candidate.

“Security personnel deployed at my residence are witnesses. He came to my 10 Circular road residence three times and met Lalu Ji with his offer and also visited my son’s official residence at least two times. I was not happy with his offer and I asked him to go back”, Former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi told a TV channel in Patna.

Her statement has caused rumblings and discomfort in the ruling NDA especially in Nitish Kumar camp. Prashant Kishor had played an important role in bringing both JD(U) and RJD on one platform during the 2015 assembly elections.

Prashant Kishor known for designing high tech and highly successful campaigns for Nitish Kumar during Bihar polls was inducted into the JD(U) as party’s National Vice President in September last year.

On Friday after Rabri Devi gave the statement NDA leaders in Patna said that the RJD is trying to divert “attention” from corruption cases against Lalu Yadav and his family.  Speaking with this newspaper JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said, “There is no truth in these claims. Everyone knows that Lalu Yadav is facing a number of corruption charges and now after Supreme Court has rejected his bail petition Rabri Devi has come out with a fabricated story. These claims have also been denied by Prashant Kishor”.
