UP CM plans to host mass weddings for Muslim girls
Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath government plans to provide monetary assistance to Muslim families for their daughters’ weddings, in an effort to tone down it saffron image and focus on minority welfare.
The government also plans to organise mass weddings for them under a scheme which will be run jointly by the Central government.
According to Mohsin Raza, the minister of state for minority welfare, the idea to organise mass weddings for Muslim girls has come from the chief minister himself.
“The chief minister has given a proposal for Sadbhavna Mandap under which about 100 mass weddings would be organised across the state. This will be a pilot project and if it receives a good response, the government plans to make it a bi-annual affair. The scheme will be designed for poor Muslim families,” the minister disclosed.
The minister said that this was a part of the “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” policy on which the Center and state governments were working.
