Chinnamma now prisoner No 9234

En route to Bengaluru, she stopped by Jayalalithaa's memorial where she appeared to take a vow.

Chennai/Bengaluru: V.K. Sasikala on Wednesday surrendered before a magistrate and was taken to Bengaluru’s Parapanna Agrahara prison, a day after being convicted of corruption by the Supreme Court.

Four cars in Ms Sasikala’s cavalcade were damaged soon near the court premises.

Before she left Chennai, Ms Sasikala re-inducted nephews T.T.V. Dinakaran and S. Venkatesh into the party. Both had been expelled by Jayalalithaa.

En route to Bengaluru, she stopped by Jayalalithaa’s memorial where she appeared to take a vow. Thumping her hand thrice at the concrete structure, she swore: “I will overcome the hurdles, treachery and plotting against me”. Her sister-in-law Ilavarasi, also convicted by the top court, travelled with her to Bengaluru.
