Question me, not my son, says P Chidambaram

The CBI called Karti Chidambaram for questioning in Aircel-Maxis deal in which the FIPB clearance was given when his father was the finance minister.

New Delhi: Former finance minister and senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram on Friday accused the Central Bureau of Investigation of spreading misinformation and harassing his son Karti Chidambaram in the Aircel-Maxis case. In an early morning tweet, Mr Chidambaram said, “In Aircel-Maxis, FIPB recommended and I approved minutes. The CBI should question me and not harass Karti Chidambaram.”

He further added, “Sad that the CBI spreading misinformation. In Aircel-Maxis, FIPB officials have recorded statements before CBI that approval given was valid.” The CBI called Mr Karti Chidambaram for questioning in Aircel-Maxis deal in which the FIPB clearance was given when his father was the finance minister.

While Mr Karti Chidambaram refused to appear before the CBI stating that the accused in the case have all been discharged by the court in the said matter, and had terminated all proceedings in the case. His assertion was strongly denied by the CBI, which reiterated that the investigation was still on.
