Congress boosted morale of Naxals: PM Modi
Korba (Chhattisgarh): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday blamed the policies of the Congress for revival of Maoist violence in Chhattisgarh.
Addressing an election rally in the industrial town of Korba, Mr Modi said Congress used to term Naxals “revolutionaries”, which boosted the morale of left-wing insurgents consequently leading to the rise of Maoists in the state.
He cited the recent killing of BJP MLA Bheema Mandavi along with four jawans in Chhattisgarh’s south Bastar district of Dantewada to drive his point home. “There is a conspiracy to push the state into violence once again. People need to be aware of the design,” he cautioned.
“What kind of politics is this? While the Centre is working towards security and development of the country and its backward and tribal areas, there was a conspiracy to push the state towards violence and destruction,” he added.
Mr Modi also slammed manifesto of Congress for promising to repeal sedition law, saying that such a move would bolster divisive forces, Naxals and terrorists in the country.
