Is BSP ready for poll pact with Samajwadi Party?
Lucknow: The Bahujan Samaj Party, on Monday, gave clear indications to its cadres that it was ready for an alliance with the Samajwadi Party.
At a meeting of party workers addressed by national coordinators Veer Singh and Jai Prakash Singh here on Monday, the BSP leaders said. “Behenji (Mayawati) has said that the situation in the state and the country is serious. She is reviewing the party work through these zonal meetings and will take decisions that will be in the interests of the country and the party”.
As soon as he said this, slogans of “Mile Mulayam –Kanshi Ram” rent the air, giving a clear indication that the BSP was ready for an alliance with SP.
The slogan “Mile Mulayam-Kanshi Ram—hawa mein udd gaye Jai Shri Ram” was extremely popular in 1993 when the SP and BSP joined hands and defeated the BJP after the Babri mosque demolition in Uttar Pradesh.
Party workers also raised slogans for Ms Mayawati as Prime Minister –“Desh ki majboori hai, Behenji PM ke liye zaroori hai”.
Around the same time, while addressing a meeting of participants of the Dalit Chetna Rally, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav said the Bharatiya Janata Party has done nothing that it can show to the people.
As soon as our alliance with BSP is formalized, you will see that the body language of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will change. This alliance will be a game changer in the country”.
Ms Mayawati, a day ago, has already voiced her apprehension that the Lok Sabha elections would be advanced and held later this year
