Lucknow: Nida Khan, a triple talaq victim who has raised her voice in favour of triple talaq victims, has been ex-communicated from Islam by the Shaher Qazi of Bareilly, Asad Raza Qadri..

Maulana Qadri has issued a fatwa calling for total social boycott of Nida Khan who was a victim of triple talaq in 2016.

He said that meeting, interacting and keeping social relations with Nida Khan was ‘haraam’ (banned). He asked her relatives to snap all ties with her and not even take part in her last journey.

Referring to Ms Farhat Naqvi, sister of union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi,  who has also been supporting victims of triple talaq, the Maulana said that since she belonged to the Shia sect, he had nothing to say to her.

The Shaher Qazi, meanwhile, has also set up a three-member committee to probe the alleged atrocities being committed in the name of ‘halala’ practice. Meanwhile, Nida Khan told reporters in Bareilly that no cleric has the copyright to Islam and she was working in accordance with the principles of the Indian Constitution.

She said she would continue to support victims of triple talaq.
