UP BJP chief says he is MP refuses to pay toll tax
BJP state chief’s convoy had sailed past the toll plaza without stopping to pay toll tax and reports of this had been published in the local media.
Lucknow: UP BJP president Mahendra Nath Pandey has said that since he is a Member of Parliament, he is “toll-free”.
Replying to a question by mediapersons as to why he did not pay toll tax while coming from Ferozabad recently, Dr Pandey said, “I am a member of Parliament and I am toll-free, any other question?”
When the reporters said that he is an MP but the people who were travelling in his convoy were not MPs, Dr Pandey angrily replied, “I am present at the Deendayal Dham, is there any other question?”
According to reports, the BJP state chief’s convoy had sailed past the toll plaza without stopping to pay toll tax and reports of this had been published in the local media.
A news agency had even posted a video of the incident on its official Twitter handle in which Dr Pandey can be heard making this statement: “Main saansad (MP) hu aur main toll free hu (I am an MP and I am toll free).”
