Arunachal leader fumes over denial of state ticket
Guwahati: A day after the BJP released its first list for Arunachal Pradesh assembly elections, dissension has started surfacing among the senior BJP leaders who were denied party tickets.
If the BJP state unit general secretary Jarpum Gamlin submitted his resignation from the primary membership of the party to which he was grooming for more than 10 years, Arunchal Pradesh home minister Kumar Waii told reporters that it was chief minister Pema Khandu’s money power that denied him ticket from BJP. Mr Waii said that he was denied ticket for the upcoming assembly polls as chief minister thought him to be a contender for chief ministership.
He expressed his surprise as a man named Goruk Pordung who is a “school dropout” has been selected as a BJP candidate in his place for the upcoming assembly polls.
When contacted Mr Gamlin however refused to say anything about the party but said that he was contender of the party ticket from Liromoba assembly seat where party has chosen to nominate a person whose name was dragged in various corruption cases. “I will be contesting the elections from the seat so with heavy heart I have resigned,” said Mr Gamli.
