Polling in seventh phase ends, exit polls to follow

Voting concludes in the seventh poll bringing the election exercise to an end; results of exit polls to be out soon

New Delhi: The seven-phase poll process for 2019 Lok Sabha Elections will come to an end with voting in 59 parliamentary constituencies across 7 states and 1 Union Territory on Sunday. More than two months of official campaigning for the 2019 general elections ended on Friday.

Over 10 crore voters 918 candidates in fray, 112993 polling stations. By this evening, except Vellore in Tamil Nadu, elections would be over in all constituencies. Vellore polls cancelled following excess use of money power.

Fresh date to be announced.

In the last six phases, an average of 66.88 per cent voters exercised their franchise. The whole elections were spread over 38 days.

6:05 pm: Voting recorded till 6 pm: Bihar-49.92%, Himachal Pradesh- 66.18%, Madhya Pradesh-69.38%, Punjab-58.81%, Uttar Pradesh-54.37%, West Bengal- 73.05%, Jharkhand-70.5%, Chandigarh-63.57%.

4:47 pm: Solan: A specially abled woman was carried to a polling station in Nalagarh by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Solan.

4:40 pm: Voting recorded till 4:30 pm: Bihar 46.66%, Himachal Pradesh 56.55%, Madhya Pradesh 59.38%, Punjab 48.74%, Uttar Pradesh 46.58%, West Bengal 63.66%, Jharkhand 64.81%, Chandigarh 51.18%.

4:10 pm: 1st voter of Independent India cast his vote in Kalpa, Kinnaur. He had cast his first vote in 1951 general elections.

3:55 pm: Arrah: Polling official attacked in Bihar's Arrah as tried to stop bogus voting.

3:50pm: Kolkata: Former Indian cricket team Captain Sourav Ganguly cast his vote at a polling booth in Barisha Janakalyan Vidyapith earlier today.

3:45pm: People of Bhil tribe in Dhal village turn out in large numbers to vote for the last phase of the elections in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh.

3:35pm: 51.95pc voter turnout recorded till 3 pm: Bihar-46.66pc, Himachal Pradesh- 49.43pc, Madhya Pradesh-57.27pc, Punjab-48.18pc, Uttar Pradesh-46.07pc, West Bengal- 63.58%pc, Jharkhand-64.81pc, Chandigarh-50.24pc.

3:30pm: TDP writes to EC alleging violation of MCC by PM Modi. Letter states, "PM has gone to Badrinath & Kedarnath on an official visit, all the private activities done by him during his pilgrimage are being displayed & continuously telecast, which is a clear violation of the MCC."

3:20pm: Bathinda: One injured following clashes in two groups outside polling booth number 122 in Talwandi Sabo; police say, "poll violence took place here, one person opened fire. We've recorded statements and registered a case. Polling has resumed".

3:03pm: Visuals from the world's highest polling station at Tashigang in Lahaul-Spiti, a part of Mandi Parliamentary constituency. The polling station is located at an altitude of 15, 256 feet above sea level.

2:51pm: Polling was stopped at booth number 101 & 102 in Sarkuna village of Paliganj after a clash broke out between two groups.

1:35pm: Varanasi: Congress's Ajay Rai who is contesting against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in parliamentary constituency of Varanasi, said after casting his vote at a polling booth here earlier today, "work is being carried out in Varanasi on a temporary basis, nothing is permanent."

1:18pm: Senior BJP leader Murali Manohar Joshi casts his vote at a polling booth in Varanasi.

1:12pm: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh casts his vote at polling booth no. 89 in Patiala.

1:00pm: Tej Pratap Yadav in Patna, Bihar: My bouncers have not done anything. I was leaving after casting my vote when a photographer hit the windscreen of my car. I have filed an FIR in the incident. A conspiracy is being hatched to kill me.

12:58pm: Congress's candidate from Patna Sahib Lok Sabha Constituency, Shatrughan Sinha casts his vote at polling booth no.339 in St. Severin's School, Kadam Kuan, Patna.

12:54pm: Tej Pratap Yadav's personal security guards in Patna beat a camera person after he allegedly broke the windscreen of Yadav's car. Tej Pratap Yadav was leaving after casting his vote. Yadav has filed an FIR in the incident.

12:33pm: A bridegroom along with his family casts his vote at polling booth number 8 in Manali parliamentary constituency.

12:03pm: Punjab Minister and Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu and his wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu, cast their votes at booth number-134 in Amritsar.

11:55am: Locals boycott elections at booth number-299 in Chandora village, Rajgir Block of Nalanda District say, 'No roads, No votes.' EVM and Block Development Officer's car vandalised.

11:45am: Rabri Devi on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's statement on BJP Candidate from Bhopal, Pragya Thakur, "Sarkar se alag ho jana chahiye tha, Itni taqleef hai Pragya Thakur se to istifa de ke alag hojana chahiye unko."

11:43am: BJP MP candidate Anupam Hazra in Jadavpur, "TMC goons have beaten up a BJP mandal president, a driver&attacked a car. We also rescued our 3 polling agents. TMC goons were going to carry out rigging at 52 booths. People are eager to vote for BJP but they are not allowing people to vote."

11:20am: BJP MP candidate Anupam Hazra at polling booth number 150/137 in Jadavpur: Women TMC workers with covered faces are casting proxy votes, it is difficult to establish their identity. When we raised objection to it, they created a ruckus at the polling station.

11:11am: Additional forces arrive at polling station number 189 in Basirhat. BJP MP candidate from Basirhat, Sayantan Basu has alleged that TMC workers are not allowing people to cast their vote.

10:58am: Rahul Sinha, the BJP candidate from Kolkata North, was attacked near BR Ambedkar School under Entally Assembly. A media person was also injured and a BJP worker was also injured in the attack, according to Sinha.

10:46am: Voters hold protest outside polling station number 189 in Basirhat, allege that TMC workers are not allowing them to cast their vote. BJP MP candidate from Basirhat, Sayantan Basu says, "100 people were stopped from voting. We will take them to cast their vote."

10:24am: Himachal Pradesh CM Jairam Thakur casts his vote at polling station number 36 in Mandi district.

8:00am: Voting underway for by-election to the Sulur assembly constituency, in Tamil Nadu.

7:54am: Bihar: EVM malfunction reported at booth no.6 in Pant Nagar of Patna Sahib (Lok Sabha constituency).

7:52am: Voting began Sunday morning for the bypoll to the Panaji assembly constituency, which was necessitated due to the death of former Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar in March.

7:24am: Polling began Sunday morning in all 13 Lok Sabha constituencies in Punjab and the lone Chandigarh constituency in the seventh and final phase of general elections, with prominent faces including SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal and Union ministers Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Hardeep Puri in the fray.

7:18am: Residents of Tara Jivanpur village in Chandauli allege ink was forcefully applied to their fingers & they were given Rs 500 on Saturday by 3 men of their village. Say, "They were from BJP & asked us if we'll vote for the party. They told us now you can't vote. Don't tell anyone."

7:07am: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath exercises his franchise at polling booth no. 246 in Gorakhpur.

7:00am: Voting begins.
