'Congress must die,' says Yogendra Yadav on exit-poll results
New Delhi: Swaraj India founder and psephologist Yogendra Yadav has hit out at the Congress saying that “Congress must die” after the exit polls results suggested a victory for the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party.
Yadav was commenting on India Today’s poll result. India Today has partnered with Axis My India to give the exit poll results. The survey has predicted 339-365 seats for the BJP led National Democratic Alliance and 77-108 for the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance.
Yogendra Yadav has tweeted his reaction:
The Congress must die.

If it could not stop the BJP in this election to save the idea of India, this party has no positive role in Indian history. Today it represents the single biggest obstacle to creation of an alternative.
My reaction to @sardesairajdeep https://t.co/IwlmBmf75d
His tweet raised eyebrows as he said that the age-old party has “no positive role in Indian history”. He clarified his point in the following tweet acknowledging that the party had played a great role immediately after independence.
My expression "no positive role in Indian history" may have caused some confusion. I cannot possibly deny the great role of Congress before and immediately after independence.

What I meant was "no positive role left to perform in history anymore". Stand by that. https://t.co/4xJh3gwopj
Congress spokesperson Khushbu Sundar defended the party. She took it to Twitter to comment on Yadav’s remarks:
I am congress..I am India..I am not going to die even if some such as you wish for..very disappointed with you @_YogendraYadav ji..why the onus is always on the congress to stop the evil?Let there be a collective force..remember process of decaying is faster than that of healing. https://t.co/9ExxNPytLV

All exit polls have suggested a big victory for the ruling NDA. The opposition leaders have dismissed the exit poll results. West Bengal CM called the exit polls a "gossip" suggesting it a gameplan to rig electronic voting machines.
I don’t trust Exit Poll gossip. The game plan is to manipulate or replace thousands of EVMs through this gossip. I appeal to all Opposition parties to be united, strong and bold. We will fight this battle together

But the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah had a different point of view.
Every single exit poll can’t be wrong! Time to switch off the TV, log out of social media & wait to see if the world is still spinning on its axis on the 23rd.

The results of the election would be declared on May 23.
