Congress on Tuesday moved the Election Commission seeking disqualification of BJP candidate Bishaulal Singh
Bhopal: Amid raging row over Congress veteran Kamal Nath’s item jibe against a Dalit woman minister in the Shivraj cabinet, a BJP candidate seeking election from Annupur assembly seat in Madhya Pradesh has allegedly used foul language against the wife of Congress nominee in the constituency, triggering outrage.
Congress on Tuesday moved the Election Commission seeking disqualification of BJP candidate Bishaulal Singh, who is also a minister in the Shivraj cabinet, for making derogatory remarks against the wife of Congress candidate in Annupur assembly seat Biswanath Singh Kunjam, .
The party produced a video before the election body as evidence of violation of model code of conduct by the BJP candidate by using filthy language against Kunjam’s wife.
The minister was heard in the video clip questioning why the Congress candidate allegedly failed to provide property statements of his ‘first wife’ and also heard calling the latter’s ‘second’ wife as ‘Rakhail’ (kept).
State home minister Narottam Mishra has issued a statement saying he was apologizing on behalf of the BJP candidate for his remarks. “I do not know what he (the BJP candidate) has said. But, I apologise for his remarks as minister for parliamentary affairs in the state government”, he added.
