Modi claims 'sunset' of Mamata rule, vows to dethrone her

Modi also underlined that the West Bengal chief minister's name Mamata stands for 'goons'.

Kolkata: Vowing to remove Trinamul Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee from power after the Lok Sabha Election Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday predicted that the "sunset" of her rule in West Bengal has started. He asserted that the "countdown" of Ms Banerjee's present term in power would start with the declaration of the poll results after a month as her "throne" has been shaken.

Modi also underlined that the West Bengal chief minister's name Mamata stands for "goons" only while the mass being subjected to her Nirmamata (brutality). This was the second time when he campaigned in the state on two back-to-back days. Modi alleged at a BJP rally in Bolpur of Birbhum, "The reports of the first three phases of polling which have come have made it clear that Didi's sun has started setting in West Bengal."

Tearing into the Trinamul chief the PM claimed, "Every nook and corner of the state is saying that the throne of syndicate has been shaken. Didi has realised that more the lotus would bloom the more she would create troubles. The more her throne has been trembling the more she and her goons are getting agitated. Whatever happened in West Bengal on Thursday is the result of this anger."

He added, "If Didi has the strength of goondaism, we also have the power of democracy. I want to assure you that I will make Bengal free of Trinamul's hooliganism. Exactly after one month, the election results will be out. On May 23 when the Modi Sarkar will come to power again, the countdown of the atrocious custodian of power will start in West Bengal
too."

Highlighting great poet Rabindranath Tagore's philosophy the PM observed, "Gurudev imagined of a society where fear would have no place and everyone would live with head high. What happened to his dream? Tagore never dreamt of a place where goons and infiltrators are imported from another country and the people have to fold hands before the syndicate. The Trinamul goons have turned Gurudev's Shantiniketan violent."

To counter Ms Banerjee's jibe at him over his foreign trips and awards by foreign countries Modi explained that he travelled abroad to advance and strengthen the country's bilateral relations with others. The PM credited India's diplomatic relations in securing the release of Indian aid worker Judith D'Souza, from Kolkata, from the terrorists with Afghanistan in July of 2016.
