CBI quizzes 2 Congress men in sex CD case

The grilling by the premier investigation agency lasted nearly three hours.

Bhopal: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), probing the sleaze CD case allegedly involving a powerful minister in the Raman Singh government, has grilled two senior Congress leaders of Chhattisgarh in connection with the matter in the past 24 hours.

While Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee president Bhupesh Baghel was questioned for three hours at the CBI office in Raipur on Wedn-esday night, spokesman of the party in the state R.P. Singh faced barrels of queries on the matter by the sleuths on Thursday.

“I have fully cooperated with the CBI (in their investigation on the matter),” Mr Baghel, who had in October last year released the sleaze CD purportedly featuring Chhattisgarh PWD minister Rajesh Mrunat, said on Thursday.

According to him, he was summoned by the CBI to be present at its office in Raipur at 7 pm on Wednesday. The grilling by the premier investigation agency lasted nearly three hours.

Similarly, Mr Singh was asked to produce himself before the CBI at Raipur on Thursday.

He was questioned for nearly an hour by the CBI sleuths, a Congress leader told this newspaper.

The sleaze CD had surfaced in October last year.

Later, the Chhattisgarh police arrested Ghaziabad-based journalist Vinod Verma, a relation of Mr Baghel, on charges of blackmailing Mr Mrunat with the “fake” sex CD featuring him.

He had to spend a few weeks in jail before being released on bail.

Former chief minister Ajit Jogi had then suspected that the leakage of sex CD was the fallout of infighting in the Raman Singh ministry.
