Rahul dares Modi to speak in LS over note ban issue

New Delhi: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi continued his onslaught against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, challenging him to speak in Parliament on the demonetisation issue.

Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Mr Gandhi said, “The PM doesn’t want to sit in the Lok Sabha. We have been stopped from speaking in the Lok Sabha. What are you you scared of?”

Mr Gandhi said that when the Prime Minister was in Japan, he laughed at the misery of the people in the country and when he is in India, he gets emotional.

“Let’s see what emotions appear on his face when he comes to the Lok Sabha. The main issue is that the Prime Minister doesn’t come to the Lok Sabha for discussion. The moment he comes to Lok Sabha, doodh ka doodh, paani ka paani ho jayega (everything will become clear),” Mr Gandhi said.

The Congress also lashed out at the BJP for leaking information about the Centre’s demonetisation move to the members of the ruling party. Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge accused the Prime Minister of “selective leakage” regarding the move to BJP members, who converted their black money through property and other avenues.

Hitting back at Mr Gandhi, BJP MP Anurag Thakur took a jibe at the Congress leader’s attendence in the House. He said Mr Gandhi’s attendance in the Lower House was a mere 40 per cent.
