PM dubs SP-BSP-RLD alliance as SARAB', Cong demands apology
Meerut: Launching 2019 campaign in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi targeted the alliance of Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and Rashtriya Lok Dal.
PM Modi coined an acronym ‘SARAB (alcohol’) for SP, RLD and BSP alliance and urged people to “stay away from ‘SARAB’ in the polls for the good health of Uttar Pradesh.”
"Sapa (Samajwadi Party) ka 'sa', RLD ka 'Ra' aur Baspa (BSP) ka 'ba', matlab 'sarab'. (Take the 'Sa' of Samajwadi Party, 'Ra' or Rashtriya Lok Dal and 'Ba' of Bahujan Samaj Party)," PM Modi said.

As Prime Minister was about to finish speaking, Congress addressed a press conference on the comments and accused PM of comparing political parties to liquor.
"Does this kind of talk befit a Prime Minister? You are calling three political parties sharab? Is this the way a PM talks? Can the people accept this," Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said in Delhi.
Continuing the attack on Modi, Sujewala asked PM Modi to take back his words and apologise to the citizens or else Indians would not forgive him.
He described PM as "drama king" and "flop film actor".
“Despite party's differences with Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati, we addressed her as "ji" and this is "Indian culture",” Surjewala added.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav tweeted :
