Is it right to abuse our Army Chief? PM slams Oppn in 2nd rally in U'khand
Uttarakhand: Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his second public rally in Uttarakhand’s Rudrapur on Thursday lashed out at the previous UPA-led government.
Addressing the public, Modi said, “A former Uttarakhand CM, Congress’ Harish Rawat, who is also a candidate from here this time had only one job, to mark attendance in Delhi Durbar. He did not care about unemployment or other issues facing the youth in the state which forced people to migrate outside the state.”
Answering the opposition's attack on Modi government’s surgical strike, he replied, “When we entered the homes of the terrorists and killed them then is it right to question valour of our jawans? Is it right to abuse our Army Chief? Will people forgive those who give anti-national statements just to become a hero in Pakistan?”
PM Modi also blamed the previous Congress-led governments for the delays in acquiring military hardware, claiming that the party was more focused on “commissions” from defence deals.
In his speech, he alleged that the Congress sat on the deal for the Rafale fighter jet as it was eyeing the “malai” (commission, kickbacks) from it. He said the Congress focus has been was on “malai”, not on national security. Earlier in the day, Modi addressed a rally in Meerut, kicking off his election campaign in Uttar Pradesh.
