Chhindwara model drives dynasty on Kamal Nath's turf
Chhindwara (Madhya Pradesh): The April 29 polls in Chhindwara Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh may turn out to be anointment of Gen-Next in Kamal Nath dynasty as its new representative.
Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath, who has represented Chhindwara nine times in a row, has vacated the seat for his son Nakul in the upcoming LS elections.
Mr Nath is contesting by-election to Chhindwara assembly constituency, being held along with elections to Chhindwara LS seat, to enter state assembly.
“I have devoted whole of my youth in serving people of Chhindwara. I want my son Nakul also follow my footsteps”, Mr Nath declared while introducing Nakul at an election meeting in district headquarters of Chhindwara recently.
“If he does not meet your expectation after being elected from Chhindwara, then do not hesitate to tear down his clothes in public”, Mr Nath had thundered inviting huge applause from the gathering.
Mr Nath’s sway over his voters is overwhelming. This is evident from the fact Mr Nath had defied the “Modi wave” in 2014 parliamentary elections to retain the seat for Congress.
He has literally become synonymous with development in Madhya Pradesh.
“Chhindwara has witnessed development in all sectors like infrastructure, agriculture and industry under Mr Nath’s stewardship in last four decades. The Chhindwara model of development has virtually returned Congress to power in MP after a gap of 15 years in the 2018 assembly elections”, Abhinabh Choubey, a Chhindwara-based political analyst, said on Saturday.
