Modi to meditate at Rock memorial on May 30

It is believed that like Sarnath holds a special place in Buddha's life, this rock holds a similar place in the life of Swami Vivekananda

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meditate at the Rock Memorial, a monument built in tribute to Swami Vivekananda at Kanyakumari, where the seer had a vision of Bharat Mata, following the culmination of his election campaign on May 30.

Sources said, “Prime Minister Modi will visit Kanyakumari from May 30 to June 1. In Kanyakumari, the Prime Minister will visit the Rock Memorial and meditate day and night at the same place where Swami Vivekanand did meditation, at the Dhyan Mandapam from May 30 evening to June 1 evening.”
“The Prime Minister is known to undertake spiritual journeys at the end of election campaigns… in 2019, he visited Kedarnath and in 2014 he visited Shivaji’s Pratapgarh,” they said.

This rock, where the Prime Minister will meditate, had a major impact on Swami Vivekanand’s life and people believe that like Sarnath holds a special place in the life of Gautam Buddha, this rock holds a similar place in the life of Swami Vivekananda.

“It was here that Swami Vivekananda arrived after wandering across the country and mediated for three days and had a vision for a developed India. Meditating at the same place shows the Prime Minister’s commitment to bringing Swamiji’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ to life. Goddess Parvati also meditated at the same place on one foot as she waited for Lord Shiva,” sources said.

Kanyakumari is the southernmost tip of mainland India. Further, this is the place where India’s eastern and western coastlines meet. It is also the meeting point of the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea, the sources pointed out.
