Mulayam Singh Yadav meets Gayatri Prajapati in prison
Lucknow: Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav on Tuesday went to the Lucknow jail to meet former minister Gayatri Prajapati, who is in the jail on the charges of gangrape.
Mr Yadav had visited the jail on Monday too but was denied permission to meet the former minister because the visiting hours were over. Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav is the first Samajwadi leader to have met the jailed politician.
Later, talking to reporters, Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav said that Prajapati is innocent and is being victimised for political reasons. He said the former minister is being treated like a terrorist and he would soon take up the matter with the Prime Minister. If needed I will also take up the issue with the President,” he said. Gayatri Prajapati has been known for his proximity to the Samajwadi patriarch.
