Bhopal: BJP national leadership has assigned Uttar Pradesh transportation minister Swatantra Dev Singh the task of wresting three Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh from Congress in the 2019 polls.

The three parliamentary seats in MP on which the BJP has set its eyes in the coming LS polls are currently represented by senior Congress leaders Kamal Nath (Chhindwara), Jyotiraditya Scindia (Guna) and Kantilal Bhuria (Jhabua).

“He is visiting MP on September 1 to begin preparations for making inroads in three seats, known as Congress strongholds”, a senior BJP leader said.

The BJP leader dropped hints that the some sitting party MLAs from these three parliamentary constituencies were said to be enjoying confidence of the three Congress leaders and may not be taken into confidence while devising strategy by the party leadership to wrest these seats from Congress in LS elections.

“The BJP national president Amit Shah during his recent tour to the state had indicated that he was aware of the nexus of some sitting BJP MLAs from the three LS constituencies with the three Congress MPs to further their mutual electoral interests.

Mr Shah has asked the party leaders that such ‘adjustment politics’ will no longer be tolerated and warned such leaders to break their nexus with the Congress leaders”, he added.

Sources said the UP minister, said to be Mr Shah’s close aide, would tour the three parliamentary constituencies extensively and meet the local party workers and leaders before preparing the blueprint to wrest these seats from Congress in the coming LS elections.

Mr Shah set a target of winning all the 29 LS seats in MP in the 2019 LS polls.

BJP has won 26 out of 29 seats in the last parliamentary elections in the state.
