'Ram Bhakt' Rahul Gandhi offers prayers at MP temple

Bhopal: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday launched his party’s campaign in Vindya region in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh after paying obeisance to Lord Ram at the famous Kamta Nath temple in Chitrakoot.

The hoardings and posters put up by Congress in the religious town of Chitrakoot, considered abode of Lord Ram during his exile period, hailed him as “Ram Bhakt” and “Pandit Rahul Gandhi”.

Incidentally, he was projected as “Shiv Bhakt” by the Congress when he visited Bhopal on September 17.

Mr Gandhi, who arrived in Chitrakoot from Allahabad by a chopper, offered “special puja” in the “Ram Durbar” of the ancient shrine before setting out on his two-day campaign for his party in Vindya region constituting 31 Assembly constituencies.

Addressing a roadside meeting at Chitrakoot, he reiterated his charges of corruption in Rafale fighter jet deal with France, observing that “PM Narendra Modi claimed him to be ‘chowkidar’ of the country, but he rather has proved him as ‘chowkidar’ of industrialist Anil Ambani by giving him undue benefits in the Rafale deal”.
