Bihar House won't let in protesting MLA in shorts

The BJP legislator, including the leader of Opposition Prem Kumar, urged the speaker to allow Mr Bihari's entry into the Assembly.

Patna: BJP legislator Vinay Bihar was denied entry into the state Assembly on Monday after he arrived in vest and shorts.

After being marshaled out, the BJP MLA from Lauria constituency in West Champaran sat on a dharna outside the Assembly gate, demanding the state government to begin the construction of roads in his constituency. He said, “I have done this to remind the state government of their failure in constructing roads in my constituency.

Mr Bihari said that the construction of roads for his constituency was approved in 2014. “The detailed project report and transfer of the land have also been done but the work has not started so far.”

BJP sources said Mr Bihari had earlier couriered his pajama to CM Nitish Kumar “to remind him of his failure in completing the construction of roads in his constituency”. According to Mr Bihari, the CM promised on November 26, 2013, that the construction work will be completed but failed to fulfill his promise.

“One month has passed since I shed my clothes for the demand of construction of roads in my constituency but the government is not ready to listen. I will remain like this till the construction work in my constituency begins,” he said.

The BJP legislator, including the leader of Opposition Prem Kumar, urged the speaker to allow Mr Bihari’s entry into the Assembly but his request was turned down on grounds that “his behaviour violated basic norms of the Assembly, which don’t allow members to sit in the House in vests and shorts”.
