Patna: Senior Janata Dal (United) leader Sharad Yadav, in a series of tweets, launched a scathing attack on the Narendra Modi-government for failing to fulfil the promises made during the Lok Sabha election campaigns in 2014.

The tweets came hours after Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Yadav urged him to take part in the fight against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Nitish joined hands with "communal and fascist forces and betrayed the people's mandate," Lalu said.

While Sharad slammed the BJP-led NDA government over several issues, he refrained from speaking about Nitish.

In the tweets, Sharad spoke about the ineffectiveness of the Modi government in tackling the issue of black money.

He also hit out at the NDA government for failure in implementing several schemes and for not generating enough jobs in the country.

Sharad said that the Centre has collected a number of cesses from public in the name of different services, but no improvement has been seen in any part of the country yet.

He asked the government to explain the slow growth of economy and decline of investment in the infrastructure sector.

Nitish pulled out of the Grand Alliance on Wednesday and resigned as the chief minister of Bihar. He, however, joined hands with the BJP a day after and was sworn-in again as the chief minister. The newly-formed Nitish Kumar-led NDA government won the trust vote on Friday.
