Rift between UP Congress and Prashant Kishor widening
The rift between the Congress and its strategist Prashant Kishor is increasing. Sources indicate that Mr Kishor is acting beyond his brief due to which the Congress is unhappy with the scheme of things. After meeting SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav in Delhi and Shivpal Yadav at the house of JD(U) leader K.C. Tyagi, Mr Kishor met UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday.
The Congress feels that Mr Kishor has exceeded his brief. The differences between the Congress and Mr Kishor have grown in Uttar Pradesh. Former Congress leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi, who has now joined the BJP, has also blamed Mr Kishor for running his own show. Other leaders have also said “that he adopts his own style rather than getting local leaders involved”. At a time when the Rahul Sandesh Yatra is, at present, on in UP, Mr Kishor meeting with the leaders of the Samajwadi Party sends a wrong signal to the Congress cadres.
The case is not so in Punjab. Sources say that Punjab Congress might want Mr Kishor to stay on as the logistics support is being taken care of him. Though Punjab Congress chief Capt. Amarinder Singh has publicly chided Mr Kishor on more than one occasion, the problem with Mr Kishor is more acute in Uttar Pradesh.
Sources also add that there is a difference of opinion between Congress and Kishor on the issue of Priyanka Gandhi campaigning in entire Uttar Pradesh. While the congress wants to adopt a wait and watch policy. Though parting of ways will be very difficult for both since the assemble elections are just round the corner. However any drastic step can be taken in the wake of more provocations
