Haryana government led by BJP has decided to drop charges against senior IAS officer Ashok Khemka, who was accused of “exceeding his jurisdiction” by the Congress party who was in power at the time.
Mr Khemka had cancelled Congress chief Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra’s land deal with real estate giant DLF. Highly placed sources revealed that the decision was taken late Tuesday night after a long meeting between Haryana state ministers.
Mr Khemka himself seemed unaware of the developments until media reports on the matter.
Mr Khemka said in a tweet “No information from Government on decision in charge sheet issued on 4th December 2013. Media story is sweet music to my ears”. It is worth mentioning here that the then Congress government in Haryana blamed Ashok Khemka for wrongly cancelling the mutation of land deal between UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra and real estate giant DLF, the BJP government in the state has dropped the chargesheet issued against him.
The then state government in December 2013 had issued chargesheet against Mr Khemka after approval by the then chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Mr Khemka was asked to reply the chargesheet within 15 days.
Mr Khemka was transferred from the land consolidation department on October 11, 2012. But he left the charge on October 15 after cancelling the mutation of Vadra-DLF land deal. It was alleged in the chargesheet that he did not leave the charge for four days “intentionally” to cancel the mutation.
