Rs 85cr drugs seized at Pak border
Border Security Force personnel on Sunday successfully seized 17 packets of contraband on Punjab border near the Pulmoran in Amritsar sector. The BSF officials said the narcotics were being thrust into the Indian territory by using a plastic pipe through the electrified barbed fence during the night hours when the vigilant BSF patrolling party jawans seized the packets. The BSF stated that keeping in view the vulnerability of border from smuggling point of view, Ajay Kumar Tomar, inspector-general BSF Punjab frontier has issued operational guidelines to further strengthen border domination especially in view of high standing paddy crops so as to effectively check the menace of narcotics smuggling on the Punjab border with Pakistan. Consequently BSF field units are maintaining enhanced vigil on border. The troops were on high alert as inputs were received regarding threat of smuggling from the area of Border Out-Post Pulmoran. Around midnight on Saturday, BSF troops deployed on border in the area of Border Out-Post Pulmoran observed movement on both sides of the border security fence. BSF troops immediately challenged the suspects but they did not pay any heed to the challenge.
