At least two cases have been registered against rebel Rajya Sabha MP L.

At least two cases have been registered against rebel Rajya Sabha MP L. Sasikala Pushpa, recently expelled from the AIADMK, and her family, including her husband and son, at an all-women police station in Thoothukudi district. This includes one case registered under the act to prohibit harassment of women.

Based on the complaint of Sasikala Pushpa’s servant Banumathi to the Thoothukudi additional district superintendent of police, Kanthasamy, on Monday, the police registered the case against the MP, her husband, Lingeswara Thilagan, son Pradeep Raja and mother T. Gowri under five sections — 294(1) of IPC (uttering obscene words to the annoyance of the complainant), section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt to the complainant), section 344 (wrongful confinement of the complainant for more than ten days), section 354(A) (making sexual advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures and demanding for sexual favour forcing the complainant to outrage her modesty) and section 506 (1) of IPC (criminal intimidation).

Cases against the four accused under section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act too have been registered for committing and abetting harassment.

It is to be noted that the Rajya Sabha member, who is said to be in New Delhi with her husband, son and mother has moved the Delhi high court seeking anticipatory bail so as to prevent being arrested on the complaint by her servant, Banumathi.
