Sukhbir Singh Badal misusing police force: AAP
After key accused Vijay Kumar in the sacrilege of Quran in Malerkotla confessed before media that Punjab police pressurised him to name AAP MLA from Delhi Naresh Yadav in the case, the Aam Aadmi Party on Friday criticised Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal for stooping to the lowest level of politics and trying to create communal tension in the state. State convener Gurpreet Singh Waraich said that Sukhbir must owe the responsibility of pressurizing police officers to falsely implicate AAP leader and Delhi MLA Naresh Yadav in Malerkotla Quran Sharif Sacrilege case. He should resign immediately, he demanded.
Waraich said that as the key accused, Vijay Kumar, has confessed before the media (he also showed the video of the confession to the media) that he was pressurized by the Punjab police officers to name Mr Yadav in the case, now it is clear that Sukhbir has politicised the police and is using it to snub his political opponents. He said that AAP leaders will meet the Punjab governor and demand an independent inquiry to identify the police officers who had registered a false case against Mr Yadav.
“This is not the first time that Sukhbir has misused his power to register false case. Even at the time of Bargari case two innocent Sikh youth were arrested on false charges of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib but later the youth had to release finding no evidence against them.” Waraich said.
MLA Naresh Yadav said, “Being a law abiding citizen of this country, I have always cooperated with Punjab Police and am ready to go through any enquiry in future as well.” He said that SAD’s attempt to create tension among communities will never work as people have now understood his politics of hatred. He said that because of politicians like him the country is going through a bad phase.
“Sukhbir sent police to arrest an elected legislator on the statement of an accused, what action would he take now when the same person has labeled allegations against his own police officers Yadav asked.
