Teacher gangraped in Assam, flaw in TET system surfaces
In what may called the direct fallout of the wrong policy of state education department, a newly recruited school teacher was gangraped by some miscreants in central Assam’s Darrang district while she was coming back from her daily duty in a primary school of remote tea garden. The incident, which has angered the residents of the district, the school teacher who was recruited through TET was gangraped by a group of youths inside Sicon tea estate of Darrang district. The police referring to the FIR, which was filed by the victim at Dalgaon police station, said that victim was on her way to home from the school when a group of four youth stopped her inside the garden. The youth, who were waiting on a garden road, wanted her to pay some money but she refused. Subsequently she was overpowered and dragged inside the tea garden where she was gangraped. The police said that victims managed to reach the gate of the garden where a youth helped her with his mobile to inform police and her family members. The miscreants are suspected to be from the nearby area and observing the movement of the victim to the school for past couple of months. It is significant that state education department had taken a tough stand when some lady teachers recruited after TET examination pleaded for change in place of posting at remote places. The department had made it mandatory for both male and female teachers to join their place of posting.
