Terminates appointments, seals offices
A day after the imposition of President’s Rule, Arunachal Pradesh governor J.P. Rajkhowa has directed sealing of the offices of former chief minister Nabam Tuki, former ministers and parliamentary secretaries in order to ensure that all the government files and official communications are taken in safe custody.
Mr Rajkhowa passed this order through an office memorandum soon after President’s Rule was promulgated in the frontier state. Mr Rajkhowa, a former bureaucrat, also directed that all official files and communications lying with the office of the former chief minister, former Cabinet ministers, and parliamentary secretaries are taken into safe custody.
Mr Rajkhowa also terminated all the political appointments of the previous government such as advisers, OSDs, special officers or any other such employees, whose term of office is co-terminus with that the chief minister, ministers and parliamentary secretaries.
In an obvious attempt to keep a close watch on political protest, the office memorandum of Raj Bhavan said, “Wherever justified, prohibitory order under Section 144 of the CrPC may be imposed in the public interest.”
He also directed that no bandhs, roadblock, gheraos or such other illegal activities are to be allowed. Laws must be enforced strictly, without any discrimination and lawbreakers are to the booked under appropriate provisions of the law and brought to justice at the earliest, the office memorandum of Mr Rajkhowa’s office said.
The governor further stated that there must be utmost transparency and action must be taken against corruption.
Meanwhile, former Delhi Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal and retired IAS officer G S Patnaik who are appointed advisors to the Arunachal Pradesh Governor are expected to arrive Itanagar in a day or two.
