Will withdraw false cases in BJP comes to power: Rajnath in UP's Kairana
Rajnath claimed that if BJP is voted to power in the state, it will act against those using ‘muscle power to terrorise people’.
Kairana (UP):
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday claimed that the “self-respect of mothers and sisters is being looted” in a campaign speech in Uttar Pradesh’s Kairana.
Rajnath claimed that if BJP is voted to power in the state, it will act against those using ‘muscle power to terrorise people’.
Speaking in Kairana, whose BJP MP Hukum Singh had accused Muslims of forcing Hindus to migrate, the Home Minister alleged that people of the region were being framed in false cases with the connivance of the UP government.
Rajnath promised to ‘probe and withdraw the false cases’ if the BJP government came to power. He challenged those ‘looting the self-respect of mothers and sisters’ that ‘hum dekhenge ki usne kitna maa ka doodh piya hai’.
The BJP slogan in the region is “Ma behno ki aan mein, BJP maidan mein” – a slogan designed to attract disgruntled Hindus.
Later, BJP MP Hukum Singh said that whenever he raised the issue of the exodus of Hindus, “secular” people said he was “communal”. To protect the lives of these people, he said, “I am ready to become communal.”
He said the BJP would stop the exodus when it came to power, and claimed that the Central government fully supported him on the issue.
Kairana has been at the centre of a controversy ever since Hukum Singh alleged Hindus were being coerced to migrate. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and National Commission for Minorities (NCM) have differed on the situation in Kairana.
The UP elections are scheduled for early 2017.
