: A car loaded with explosives was found near the Indian consulate in Afghanistan’s Herat. One person has been arrested in connection with the incident, says Indian Ambassador to Afghanistan, Amar Sinha.

The motive behind the explosive laden car has not been established, says Sinha. The explosives found in the car were unused and unusable, says a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs. The statement also added that it was premature to assume any possible attack on the consulate.

This incident comes barely a week after the terror attack on the Indian Consulate in the Afghan city of Mazar-e-Sharif.

A group of terrorists had attacked the Consulate at around 9.15 pm (local time) on Sunday with an aim of storming the building but their plan was thwarted by the security forces.
