Muhammad Ali family in brutal bout over his fortune

Muhammad Ali’s family is at war over his £40million fortune amidst claims that Ali's brother, Rahman Ali, has been cut out of the will altogether.

Rahman has reportedly been banned from a family meeting in Los Angeles which was arranged to discuss the three-time world heavyweight champion’s estate, according to the Daily Mail. The boxer’s son, Muhammad Ali Jr, has indicated that his 73-year-old uncle will not receive any money from the will amid a long-standing row with Ali’s wife Lonnie.

According to the Mirror, there are also tensions between Lonnie and other members of the family. And Muhammad Ali Jnr and his seven sisters are at loggerheads with brother Asaad, who was adopted by their dad and Lonnie in 1986. Asaad, 30, is believed to have been excluded from family gatherings. In an interview with the Sunday Mirror, Muhammad Jnr said the family is preparing to “go through hell” as the dispute rumbles on. He said he hoped relatives would eventually put their hands in their pockets to help his uncle, who fears he too has Parkinson’s — the same degenerative disease his brother suffered from for decades before his death in June.

Muhammad Jr, 44, told the newspaper, “Rahman is really hurt because Lonnie didn’t invite him to the family part of the funeral. He was meant to be at the hospital, but she didn’t tell him about that.

“He’s hurt worse than all of us, I pray for him. He wasn't able to say goodbye. He wasn't there when they pulled the plug. He's not doing so good.

Ali’s long-time friend Howard Gosser had earlier claimed that Lonnie had Rahman arrested on hearing how he had allegedly taken possession of his late parents' house and removed some of the furniture. Rahman was also said to be suspicious of Lonnie's relationship with his brother.

The legal firm dealing with Ali’s affairs said the boxer’s trust was finalised more than a decade ago and that it was up to Lonnie to administer it trust “as it was written”, the Sunday Mirror reported.
