West Bengal: BJP attacks TMC on new sting video
The BJP on Sunday once again slammed the Trinamul Congress over Narada sting operation after it showed new videos uploaded by the news website. Meanwhile, BJP national secretary Siddharth Nath Singh lodged a complaint with the EC against ruling party leaders. The new video allegedly shows West Bengal urban development minister Bobby Hakim giving assurance to party MLA Iqbal Ahmed of providing him contracts for projects under Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority. The new video was uploaded days after the collapse of Vivekananda flyover. The flyover project was implemented by the KMDA. “The video shows how the minister took bribe every time there was a new project. He is even asking another MLA to float a tender and he will make sure that the company chosen by the MLA gets the contract. If the ministers take 50 per cent of the money allotted for a project then how will it see the light of the day Is this the way a government runs ” asked actress-turned-politician Rupa Ganguly. The BJP leader also demanded an answer from chief minister Mamata Banerjee after she claimed that the state witnessed “limitless” corruption under the TMC rule.
In the evening, BJP national secretary and co-observer for Bengal Siddharth Nath Singh met chief electoral officer Sunil Gupta and demanded “suspension” of IPS officer S.M.H. Meerza who was seen accepting bribe in a Narada sting operation video.
They also reiterated their demand for the removal of city police commissioner Rajeev Kumar for allegedly masterminding a “sting operation” on party national secretary and former state president Rahul Sinha.
Another unedited video uploaded by the news website showed Mr Meerza allegedly making several revelations about TMC vice-president Mukul Roy, former state transport minister Madan Mitra, party MP and nephew of chief minister Abhishek Banerjee.
