New name, old woes
In response to Aakar Patel’s article, Really, what’s in a name
In response to Aakar Patel’s article, Really, what’s in a name (April 17), I would like to state that I agree that merely renaming cities will neither herald “manna from heaven” nor invite the “end of the world”. There’s also little doubt to the fact that the renaming of Gurgaon is a rhetorical exercise to divert the people’s attention from the problems faced by the city. It is disgraceful that governments are ready to spend time on such a trivial exercise instead of thinking of more constructive ways to simplify people’s lives by providing better governance and infrastructure.
