If you thought that you had a pretty good idea about which foods are unhealthy then you’d be surprised to know that you are mistaken. Apparently, there are certain food options that are not as harmless you might think. In fact, most nutritionists would do anything to avoid these foods that most of us would mistake for the healthy stuff.

So, here some of the most common foods that nutritionists would never include in their diets.

Canned soup

Although soup is considered a healthy food option, canned soup contains high amounts of salt, according to The Daily Mail. This can be extremely unhealthy as high intake of salt can lead to high blood pressure. Moreover, the additives, preservatives and colours added to canned soup give you enough reason to knock it off your grocery list.

Smoothies

While health freaks are known to swear by fruit smoothies, this type of beverage is far from being healthy. Most smoothies available in stores also contain whole-milk yoghurt, syrups, sugar, peanut butter and chocolate. Also, as the process of juicing requires the removal of fruit or vegetable fibre, smoothies will not make you feel fuller for longer.

Popcorn

Popcorn has been advertised as a low-calorie snack now for quite some time. But instead of selling it in its plain wholegrain form, popcorn varieties in flavours of chocolate and butter are increasingly becoming the norm. These are the types of popcorn that a health conscious person should avoid.

Fizzy drinks

For those who don’t know – a 330ml can of Cola contains the equivalent of seven teaspoons of sugar. Consuming such types of drinks on a regular basis can lead to some serious weight gain and eventually a higher risk of health conditions like heart disease, type 2 diabetes and stroke. Moreover, drinking sugary drinks can also cause your teeth to decay.
